Snap traps aren't working, it's on a steep slope so I don't think I can set up a barrel for drowning them... They are nibbling the skin off the pumpkins, one is nearly destroyed, many others have been nibbled all over.

I thought it was chipmunks and shot 2 in the vicinity but the damage continues. I thought I saw something run off in the canopy that was gray so maybe mice.

Next step will be bait but I don't see why they would choose that over the pumpkin.

I read somewhere that they nibbled to the skin because they were looking for water but there is a creek 20 feet away. I dunno, at work and thinking about how to kill the bastards

Mouse/Rat bait works well. I had something digging inside my barn, put some rat bait down and 2 days later a big fat dead rat was laying on the dirt floor.

Do you have turkeys around. They ate my watermelon last year and pecked at the pumpkins. So far this year they are only eating the corn. The only way I figured it out, I caught them in the act.
