Greetings from the Mediterranean! This is this year's crop. Two months of careful growth ready to be transplanted. This year I planted Shirey, Prilep, Criollo 98 and Connecticut. Prilep and Shirey plants have grown faster and better, while Connecticut and Criollo 98 plants are smaller. Thanks NWTseeds for your wonderful seeds...

Hello friends today I planted Shirey and Prilep on the ground. This year we have a shortage of water so I have installed a drip irrigation system to save water (efficiency!).
Good luck to all growers!!

Hi Santisimo
I use a similar system and on the first time I tried it I found that I had to install a filter as the small holes block easily. If you're on a water restriction I assume that it is very dry in your country so I would suggest a soil moisture meter as well, both of these are reasonably priced and good investment as you have to be careful not to over water. Good luck with your grow I'm sure that all will be fine, they look good so far.
Cheers Oldfella

Thank you Oldfella. Yes, i installed a filter (experienced problems last year on tomatos). It is important not to over water every day i check my "babies". Cheers!

Happy Sunday! This week I planted the connecticut shade on the ground. Weather is favorable, semi-sunny days
26 degrees of maximum temperature and 15 degrees minimum. Only a "problem": snails discovered my babies and started to eat!! I have put some snail poison and it seems to be effective...

Good morning! Today i finally planted all the plants including 14 plants of the "criollo 98" variety. It has been a long process that started in March and now I am very happy to see them grow.

Here are some photos:

Good looking and well organized set of plants. That's quite the watering system. Agree on your effective slug control method. Never had good control with other methods. This worked well for me also. What are you feeding them now while they are young? Soluble iquid fertilizer?
Cheers,
Cliff

Hi Cliff, previously to plant I fertilized the land with manure. At this stage of growth i use moderated quantities of granulated fertilizer "15-15-15" (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) and performs very well. Good luck!!

I do pretty much the same. Soluble fertilizer when young and for a quick boost, draft horse manure earlier when turned in. And as a side row, actually under the plants when planting of the granular you use. Most of my nitrogen from the manure> Very similar styles except your great looking water system and warm climate.

This year on the mediterranean area is warm on excess... we are on a dry season and lack of water. Tobacco plants are very demanding on water and water system is proving insufficient. Hope you have plenty of water for irrigation (y)

Well, a month and two weeks have passed since the transplant and the plants are growing fast despite the heat and the drought...

Shirey and Prilep started to flower, observe how many leaves the prilep have...

Connecticuts also grow quite a bit:

Finally, Criollo 98 are the smallest but they have time to grow
