Hey, I currently live in central Texas - but I've purchased some land in Mississippi (north central) and was thinking of maybe growing some tobacco on maybe 5 or 10 acres. Was referred here by a member on Frugal Squirrel's board.

Oh that is for sure! But its elevated well and full of drainages so I'm not concerned about flooding :) We are going to locate our home site on a high corner of the property - overlooking a good sized drainage which is next to a couple of springs that will become about an acre pond once we have the levy constructed.

And yes, the buyer is the thing! Though, a web site to sell the leaf would be good too - I've got experience with that.... would have to have some kind of age verification thing - I guess I could check out the other sites and see how they do it.

Good luck with the move and the tobacco. Your work will be cut out for you in finding customers right now. But I for one think that will be changing soon. People are looking for answers to the high prices. they are just not yet taking the plunge to whole leaf. I am seeing more and more go to RYO. as the prices get worse they will start finding whole leaf. Wether uncle sam chases them that far for his money? I am not sure. I am not sure enough people will take the plung. Many will but when it is no longer a money maker for uncle sam he will loose interest.
