Ok. Now I'm starting to feel old.
I got you beat. I'm older.

"Lie down between the traces and die" refers to an old horse in harness lying down and dying on the job. The traces are the sticks that extend from the front of the wagon axle up to both sides a horse in single hitch. In double hitch it's the wagon tongue that extends up between the pair (first pair in multiple spans) of horses.

100% RH this morning. It's awful. I sprayed everything with BT and fertilized all the plants except the Orientals. I did it all from the 4 wheeler and I was still ringing with sweat when I got back home. Temp was only 70 F, but it felt like 105. Only 20% chance of rain today, so I hope to do some planting this evening. The plants I planted a couple weeks ago are looking good and growing in spite of all the rain. I'll go down after awhile and tackle the aphids again and maybe pull a little grass. The grass is loving the rain and I can't seem to keep up. No more working in the rain for me though, they'll make it or they won't. I'm planning on working in some peat moss bales and cow manure this fall, then plant some crimson clover to get ready for next year.

That's a hell of a plan. I'm working in rabbit, goat and horse manure after the sun gets through with it under the tarp.

Well I sprayed twice for aphids with the soapy water.Once this morning and once this evening. I got the filler and binder varieties planted and got a start on the flue cured. Two flats to go and I'm planted out. I'll post pictures tomorrow if it's not raining.

Hot dog they've changed the forecast! Looks like some dry weather coming. I'll be planted out soon. And I believe it's time to start harvesting some lugs and mud lugs. I'll post pictures tomorrow. :D Today? I have my nights and days flipped around, I hate doing that.

Knucks, I think you sent that rain up my way-it sucks! Non stop heavy downpours for about 18 hours now. I'll send it back if you like.

No thank you, I've had my fill of it. Put some pictures on here of your plants, I'll share a blog with you. :) Somebody should have started a Float Blog this year. What an introduction to tobacco growing this year has been! You should have warned me.

I've been meaning to ask, Have the plants started growing better since putting dirt around those wind roots? Every one of mine had them hanging out the side of the stalk. You should see how my Zimmer Spanish took off after I pulled the dirt up to the first leaves.

My pet Samsun-Maden. This would have been the perfect year for a container grow around here. I think I only watered this plant twice the whole season. My best plant by far. pet Samsun-Maden.jpg My wrapper varieties for seed grow outs. wrapper.jpg Two rows of filler, binder, flue cure and the GRIN Orientals for seed. grow out 1.jpggrow out 2.jpg A cute little budding Izmir. Izmir.jpg One of my poor, pitiful, rain and clay stunted Yellow Twist Bud plants. They're starting to bud so I guess it's time to prime the bottom leaves. YTB.jpg

Your sucker crop will be spot on if we get back in to the normal weather pattern. The root balls are well established and there's still plenty of time for a bumper crop for us.

I'm not sure the root balls are all that well established. They sure haven't had to look for water. My tallest Burley TN90 and Virginia are about 3' and there's only two or three that tall. Some of them are starting to bud so I don't think they're going to get too much bigger. The bottom leaves are ripe. You can see how yellow they look in the 4th picture down.
