Thick Brittle Leaves

I've noticed that some of my leaves appear normal when I harvest them, but they cure thick like parchment paper, and they tear easily in contrast to normal leaves that are thin and flexible.

Any idea on what's going on, and are these leaves still ok for smoking?

I had that once when I was too busy with life, picked and piled them, and waited too many days to hang them.
