My friendship year - seeds from friends here on the site. I'm looking forward to see how these new types grow, and taste!

Seeded the following on Mar 12:

From Deluxe Stogie: Poquonock
Havana 263
(These are to refresh some of his collection)

From Matty (Seeds he got from Lakota):
Gold Burley
Gold Seal Burley
Canadian Virginia
GL 939

MCB (from Deluxe and JBD)
NB 11 - my old faithful.

All germinated rapidly, grew well, and are now being hardened off for planting in early June.

Grg - the NB11 is just a solid mild tobacco in my book. (Can't compare it with harrow velvet; as far as I know, I haven't tried that one. There were 19 or 20 odd plants in a batch of seed I got several years ago, and it could have been in that lot.)

No bite, no aromatic or sweetish notes. Just a great, strong, heavy yielding plant. It was the outstanding unknown type in that odd lot, and haven't been able to find anything that it matches. Don Carey hung the NB11 designation on it when I sent him some seed - from NB in 20-11.

It closely resembles Monte Calme Brun in shape, but yield is 20% higher in my patch.

They sound good Jack, I am growing several from Jbd this year, and a few from Deluxestogie, and knucklehead sent some Bezuki. You can check my grow log for this year for specifics on first page. I have several burleys from jbd were going to be for grow out, I'm not sure if still needed.
