I wish I knew of something to soak my hand in . I can't tie my shoes or button my pants . I hurt it about 6 days ago and at that time I would have soaked it in gasoline and set it on fire if would have helped .

Right now im trying to strip my tobacco crop and it will take me three + months if I have help and two my good hands .

Soak your hand in Epsom Salts and take a couple aspirin.

Did you break bones in your hand? You might need them reset if it's bad. I've have metal pins keeping my hand bones lined up while healing. Hurts like hell going in. It took five people to hold me down while the doc drilled the pins into my bones. I swear it felt like an elephant was standing on my hand and arm,...don't even notice them coming out though

I can attest that being burned won't help, I suggest the epsom salts.;)

Stupid ME . I was lifting farm wagon with the loader on my tractor . I lifted
the front from a runner on the wagon fixing a broken tie rod end and I was trying to turn the wheel to line it up . The runner
was lifted from a notch on the sid of the loader bucket holding the runner up
about five inches , I thought I had picked the wagon rail up flat on the bottom of the bucket
. As I was comming out from under the wagon I placed my hand
on the bucket of the tractor pulling myself up , out from under the wagon and thats when the runner slipped
from the notch and landed hard on my hand . It trapped me for what seemed like 10 min or more .
I was by my self and I started screaminmg help hopeing one of my neighbors would hear me , but no they aren't around when you need one .
My house sits 200 ft away from my
tobacco barn where I was at . And my wife was fixing to leave to a church
meeting . I was prying trying to get a loose . I waved at cars on the road and
couldn't get no one to stop .I was like a trapped rat . I figure it weighed 2500
+pounds. it was a Flat bed farm wagon with a new oak / hickory flat 20 FT long .

I finally took a big adjustable wrench and raised the end enough to get loose . It is a
good thing my loader lets down slowly .
I thought when I raised the wagon the runner was laying flat in the bottom of
the bucket .
I never have done anything this stupid before . I guess Im just getting older .

I can't tie my shoes or button up my pants . Its amazing what doing without a
thumb will do .

I put ice on it and I don't have insurance so I self doctored and hope for the best .
My thumb up past my wrist was flat and you could see the bones .

The swelling has gone down now but my thumd has no feeling in it yet I can work it, but it is stiff .It tingels when I touch or rub it .

I would say the only thing that save my hand was the loader bucket was flat and the wagon runner was 5 inches wide and flat on the bottom .

I will try the epsom salts . I believe it may have broken possably between the wrist and the firs knuckle and maybe the knuckel itself .

No I didn't but I should have . I don't have insurance and can't afford to pay a doctor .
If I had of had insurance I surely would have went .

I told my wife that my ticker must be in good shape or I would have had a heart attack right there .

Maybe worth going to a free clinic for man. If you can move it though that is a great sign.

Yeah get it checked out BigB, Most hospitals will help you out so you don't have to pay right up front, that is if you can't find a free clinic. Worse things can come later if you don't get it figured out right now, praying for you, brother!

I agree. you need a doctor. I also suggest immobilizing it until you get it checked. You can simply tape it or tie it to your hand.

After the accident my hand swelled from flat to so big I don't think the hospital would have set my hand anyway .
I checked the bones with my good hand and after a bit of pulling and feeling the bones seemed ok . Then the swelling set in and I iced it good .

Funny thing after a couple of hours there was no pain at all in my swelled up hand . I didn't wrap it and Islept with it carefully .

Now the swelling has gone down and I can move the entire thumb but no ways near the way it should .

When the accident happened . I felt like I was going to pass out and at times puke .

Oh I will be ok . I hate giving doctors money that the bank thinks they need for farm payments .

I could have always sold some cows and paid . I just didn't think a doctor could do any more that what I did especially until the swelling went down .

I rarely call the vet when I have cow or calving troubles . I do all my vet work myself .

My last vist to the emergcy room was $1200 for 10 stiches. As out rages as that was to get a little insurance is around $250 a mounth. That the onley time I've been to the doctor in 15 years so Istill came out good. For the poor man that works for his self they just ant much health care. I hope that changes but It looks like I will be forced to buy some thing I can't aford.

I'm a bit predispositioned towards getting doctors' aid. Usually I'll do the stuff on my own, but having diabetes I get in the mind set, if it is internal, gotta have someone check it out. As much as the bill can be (even with insurance) sometimes it's worth it. Pinched arteries, pinched nerves, torn ligaments and such are never fun to deal with weeks after the accident.
