Anyone else started to cook/prep for Thanksgiving? Why not share a favorite recipe or tradition, or post your best Norman Rockwell table scape!

Tomorrow's menu at the Casa Farmer is:
Turkey and Dressing (House bread and cornbread)
Fresh Cranberry Sauce
Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potatoes (both purple this year for some reason)
Green Bean Casserole (from scratch, none of that canned glop)
Fresh Rolls made with our 10 year old sourdough
Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie

So far today I've made the cranberry sauce and cornbread. Next is cream of mushroom soup and the pumpkin pie. Then brining the turkey.

Turkey Day 2019 is now officially complete at our house. I took a leaf out of Julia Child’s book and deconstructed the Turkey this year: removed the legs and thigh bone, and the backbone. The breast and legs came out perfect and were done at the same time with no fuss Never going to cook a turkey whole again. And it cooked in less than 2 hours. We ate on time and all the sides were great. Also tried out a new pumpkin pie recipe made with Guinness - super tasty.

As you can see from the pics I cook my bird in the grill. Makes a great second oven and frees up the real oven for the wife’s bread and sides. Also acts as a warming oven to keep the bird warm if it finishes first.

The only incomplete task is my post-prandial port and pipe. I somehow fell asleep on the way to the humidor. Maybe later...

Turkey is done. The black stuff is actually dark brown and made the best gravy.
