Virginia 116

Has anyone ever grown Virginia 116? I am considering growing it next season (purchasing seed from north wood). I want to grow a Maryland for sure and was considering 609 or maybe catterton. I was also considering possibly growing a dark Virginia type (stag horn or Shirey) but have zero experience with that variety and don’t really know what to expect out of it. This would be grown mainly for cigarette blending and possibly some pipe blending. I am currently limited to air or sun curing but hope to have a working flue cure chamber built by then. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Maryland 609 was more productive for me than Catterton or Keller. MD 609 seems to mature a bit more slowly.

I grew Virginia 116 this last season, very similar to Virginia Bright Leaf.
I got more production (plant/leaf size) but it was planted in a garden spot with more direct sunshine.
Will still be planting it again next spring.

How did you cure it and how did it turn out?

I flue-cured the Virginia 116, along with other Virginia's - cured OK, and was blended & shredded for cigarettes. I can't really comment on flavor/aroma as I didn't test smoke it separately.
