I've been getting little sprinkle showers all morning. Not enough to wash in the fertilizer, just enough to drive me back to the house before I can get started planting. I did get to replace a couple of dying wrapper varieties the dog stepped on and I harvested and strung about half my Samsun-Maden in the shop. I harvested and strung the Virginia lugs yesterday.
Are your Virginia budding? I was under the impression h harvest did not begin until flower buds showed?

Some have just begun budding, but the mud lugs and lugs are yellowing on the plant. If I don't harvest them they will just slowly die and cure on the plant. Many already have. These are always the first leaves to get ripe. Taking them off will send the energy to the real leaves, much like topping will. They are always very mild. The ones that do ripen and cure on the plant can be rolled into a puro cigar or stuffed in a pipe and smoked right there in the field. Another good reason to have at least a Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipe.

I got a small shower yesterday in the middle of the day. All my seedlings were standing tall, then I got about 10 min. of rain with another 3 min. rain with the sun shining. Then the clouds went away and the sun was out in full force. All the seedlings wilted down to the ground. It was like I had done the no-no of watering in the heat of the day. I'll go down this morning and look them over. I'm hoping they recovered overnight with no sun scald. Crazy weather.

Same here, the humidity has finally gone down from 80%+ at night and upper 70% during the day to 58% right now. Just in time to save my curing leaf. Some of them were just getting the black mildew spots like Fisherman had. I'm going to dose them shortly with a half vinegar solution that Mr. Stogie suggested.

Gawd, how can you live there? lol I'd freekin' die in that humidity. Right now we have 92 degrees with 17% humidity. Yesterday was 94 & 14% at this same time. It dropped to 49 last night and was 46 yesterday morning. It was down right chilly out there at 6 am and I needed a long sleeve shirt.

It's been especially high with all this rain. It rained all day yesterday. It's tough working in the middle of the day. I woke up the other morning before I had harvested anything and the humidity was100% and the temperature was in the upper 70's with the high for the day in the mid. 80's. It's stifling. Winters are mild but when it does get cold it's that "wet" cold that eats it's way into your bones. Other than that the weather is great.

Well here on the wet coast, it's not so wet this year. As a matter of fact, we've had a warmer then usual spring, more sun than usual, and june was rather nice. Now, we are heading into the 6th or 7th week on dry hot weather. can't say I complain about it and i'll take all I can get. I notice the effects of the weather on the bees (they are phenomonal) and on the baccy and garden, which are also doing good. Sun, Sun, Sun, If I could sell sun shine, I'd be rich.

Will, I wish you could go to SW. Fla. and see the bees working in 102* when the orange trees are in full bloom. I think you'd say those are super bees. The orange blossom honey from a orange only hive, It's almost clear. The smell is heavenly and the taste is amazing.
