What Cigar are you smoking? (2026)

Had a Sarzedas this evening while grilling.


A friend gave it to me the other day and I thought tonight would be a good time to give it a go. Surprisingly good. Reviews I read made it seem the sweetened cap would be super sugary, but it was very light. The tobaccos were of good quality and the flavors were fairly balanced. It's certainly not a flavored cigar nor is it aromatic in the way "The Aromatic Cigar" in its marketing seems to imply. I might keep a few of these on hand for times I want something different.

Macanudo Ecuadorian Shade. Probably the absolute mildest cigar I've ever smoked, to the point of being nigh flavorless. The aftertaste of the coffee I had with it overpowered the cigar and I had to get to drink water instead, and only then did I get a little flavor peaking around the edges.

Well this morning I too am smoking a Macanudo but unlike your's, this is spectacularly full bodied, complex and extremely tasty. I would say not dissimilar to a Cuban Bolivar. It is a Inspirado Red robusto and cost about 6 bucks. Incredible value for money these days. Highly recommended

Last week, my younger brother sent me two each of these "Macanudo" cigars. There once was a time when that brand name meant something. Both of these odd Macanudo cigars were mild, somewhat bland, and certainly unrelated to their legendary Jamaican cigars. The giant cigar bands were glued on with only the very best glue. Each of the three that I have smoked so far developed tears in its delicate wrapper, despite my most careful effort to remove the dual bands. One showed ten splits or tears, of which five were serious enough for the dark, wrinkled binder to be clearly visible. Their draw was excellent, and the tears did not affect that.

Bob, try an example of the Macanudo I smoked yesterday, called an Inspirado Red robusto. $6 here in Europe. One of the tastiest, most full bodied cigars I've ever smoked. For the price, superb. Construction, wrapper, draw, burn, all perfect.

When I lived in Japan and had no money a friend of mine Jack invited me occasionally to a Wine and Cigar bar in Ginza. Jack didn't smoke and by the end of the first cigar he'd get sick. I enjoyed it immensely though Almost 30 years ago now.

the Amar by AJ, not a fan but i had 10 to get through. I hate to admit it but it's really the worst made I've had in my lifetime. I normally love anything by AJ but this is just not my flavor profile, doesn't seem to match up with what many reviewers had been promoting it as. I have it in the "torito" size. has alot of trouble staying lite the closer you get to the end, soft spots in that area, had a few just burst apart because of thick stems in the cap when cutting. the only thing I enjoy about it is the strength and pepper.
