I'm enjoying my very first bowl of Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse blend. Its ingredients will be visible to viewers of this forum during the third week of January 2019. As a teaser, a minor ingredient is Latakia (12.5%), accompanied by four major ingredients with "Red" in their names. It's potent, rich, full, and free of bite. Its appearance is that of a seemingly polite and promising pipe blend that has instead gone over to the Dark Side.

This gorgeous Stanwell De Luxe Smooth (126), which I've owned for at least 10 years, looks much better than it smokes. The grain is lovely. The bowl is crowned with a briar plateau surface, and it has colored gracefully. Unfortunately, the smoke hole exits the bowl nearly vertically from the very center of the slightly conical tobacco hole. So, while it usually does fine, it is somewhat prone to clogging, even with gentle tamping.

Another problem with this beauty is the shape itself. It cannot be securely rested on a typical pipe stand between puffs. The curve just offers no purchase for the stand. It does go into a pipe rack well.

It's a love-hate relationship. But how can I really hate something named, "De Luxe"?

Christmas was almost universally accepted throughout the US by 1840, and was eventually declared a National Holiday in 1870.
