2nd post here.

WOW!

After finding this place and ordering up a mix bag of smoke from Don, I have to say I am in total shock and still a bit of disbelief.

NO LONGER will I smoke 20+ chemical riddled, commercailly produced gag sticks a day. NO LONGER will I waste gas and time driving to the corner store. NO LONGER will I patronize the tobacco industry. NO LONGER will I pay $6 - 7 a pack. NO LONGER will I feel like s_ _ t whenever I decide to light up. NO LONGER will I light another up after just putting one out. NO LONGER will I cough and choke and DIE from chemicals (I really like that part)

I'm just rolling Va Red in some widers (suck a$$ papers, what a shock $2.50 a pack, jeeezzzze) and loving life. I think today I only smoked 7 or 8 cigs and I have never been more satisfied from tobacco in the last 40 years. Its like I was transported back to my teens, when I first started working the fields and rolling my own.

Right now I am just using papers, no filter, I prefer tobacco this way. Kinda how I like drinking whisky, straight. I am hunting natural papers, trying to eliminate ALL the chems I can. If I can't find anything decent, guess I will just use leaf.

Any recomendations on GOOD, natural, papers? No filters.

Exactly what possible benefit can a filter/tube on this type of tobacco provide the user over and above a good, natural paper?

I also need to look around for a shredder.

I have been in shock for the last few days about this. I haven't even started blending anything. This stuff is so nice, I'll be chewing it too.

If people only knew...

Welcome, OFB! If you like rollups, tubes would have no benefit. I use tubes because I like filters and RYOs look too much like joints. So the only real benefit is to maintain a respectable image in public ;) I enjoy a rollup now and then, though. And filters to put in RYOs are pretty inexpensive. There are some natural no chem unbleached RYO papers on the market but I can't remember the brands. I have more than I need from the times I bought pouches of RYO tobacco to compare when I was experimenting with blends.

i roll up cigs once in a while if i am out of the tube smokes and not at home. i almost always have a container of shreded tobacco and tops papers and a top hand rolling machine(the kind with the two rollers and a little belt) in my truck. sometimes if out partying late everyone seems to run out of cigs and don't mind rolling their own when no one has any. i even have tops filters in a ziplock bag they come in. i started ryo with the tops pouches that come with papers and graduated to the stuff i have now. i like the tops papers for old fashioned rolling.

True but in the US no one smokes roll ups hardly so you get more funny looks. Anyway I like tubes.

Opposite here in new zealand now. A huge number of smokers use roll ups here due to the cost------taxes.

More expensive here than the US or most countries.

When I was living in beijing a couple of years ago, I was only paying 43-46 renminbi= fraction over $7.00 USD for a brick (200 pack) and given a free digital lighter with each brick!!!. Was a nice mild smoke to. I returned to n.z. with about 30 unused lighters which customs didn't spot.

Did you slip out with some unique Chinese seed?

Are you talking about problems taking seed out of China or bringing seed into NZ? I just sent some seed to an unnamed island in the general region we're talking about. I can divulge No nameZ

welcome to FTT
I've been here for a while learned alot from all these guys. rolling my ciggs with tobacco leaf and the occasional tube. little cigars ciggys made by using a roller 70mm and cutting whole leaf down to zigzag size and you can use a mixture of fruit pectin and water as a glue to hold it together. works really well totally different tast then any commercial cigarette Ive ever tasted. after making the glue you want to put any extra in the fridge so it doesnt sour.

Importing to NZ.This statement is from NZ Customs:
The import prohibitions and restrictions have been introduced to maintain and protect the health and welfare of
people, animals or plants in New Zealand.
"Seeds of all kinds are prohibited"

The link if you're interested: http://www.customs.govt.nz/news/res...t/Documents/Prohibitions and restrictions.pdf

But stuff does slip through sometimes:)

Oh, man, I put "leaf and seed samples" on the customs form. Maybe they'll be satisfied with throwing Webby in jail or maybe just beating him up some. He's supposed to do a grow out and then spread the seed around to you guys. :(

They might return the package to you. Most likely they will confiscate it and toss it in the trash. If you mail seeds in a normal letter size envelope there is no customs form to fill out and 99.9% of the time it gets through. I've sent seed to 17 countries including NZ. All made it but one to Turkey which disappeared. I resent it and it made it on the second try.
