Good afternoon all. I’m gonna keep it short- this era of my life is loaded with mandatory overtime, two boomerang young adults and normal life with the rest of their siblings.

This is my second year growing and I only carried over the black mammoth from last year. In addition to that, I grew Comstock Spanish, Connecticut broadleaf and Long Red. All have done decent but the beetle problem is massive this year. The Connecticut broadleaf took a beating but that was in the sun too and I know it’s ordinarily a shade grown plant.

In the midst of all of that, I got on building an air curing “barn” since my backporch was overwhelmed last year. Should hold my quantity at about 32-35 plants this season. I’ve installed an old school analog thermometer/hygrometer on the wall and I have a Bluetooth Govee mounted inside as well so I know what to ask the better looking half to do when I’m gone(open doors, close doors, hose down gravel, etc…)

Now I’m working on how to do my fermentation kiln. I’ve seen everyone’s ideas but I went crazy and I think I have far more leaf than most can handle. In addition, being that I spent so much time on this monstrosity of a barn- I’m being asked if I can build the kiln inside of it as well so- challenge accepted. I suspect at this phase I’ll be asking A LOT of questions and seeking suggestions.

Could have fooled me, looks like you have a good handle on it.

At the very least, that handsome barn gives you somewhere to let your leaf hang while you process it through a kiln in smaller batches.

Best of luck with the rest of the season
Thank you. Seco is all that’s hanging now, so about the same quantity times three is going to be in here within the next few weeks. Thinking of having a friend help me run a new line off the panel to source an outlet inside for the kiln. And build it predominantly out of cedar since albeit “indoors” of the barn, it’s a gravel floor and still somewhat exposed to elements/critters/insects. It’s practically a literal barn at 8x14xI’ll leave the height out but it’s pretty tall lol
