My Tekekoy grew 7 feet last year so yours seems normal based on my experience but your Canik seems mighty tall. Fertilizer! I think we should swap some Tekekoy leaf this fall to see if there is much of a difference. I'm willing to bet yours will have some noticeable nicotine in it

If you recall, it was your suggestion that prompted me to acquire the Amarillo Parado, Timor, and Colombian Garcia. They are excellent growers and I am as excited about them as the Cuban varieties. Thank you for your advice. I'm as anxious to try the Timor as any other variety.

Izmir-Lebanese, Japan 8, Mutki, Bitlis, Duzce, Visoka Marula, Prilep P66-9/7, and Adiyaman are all doing fine. I will post pictures of those in a few days. I'm trying to get into the habit of writing Izmir-Ozbas instead of just Izmir because of the coming of the Izmir-Lebanese. Things might get confusing later on. Have you ever tried the Izmir-Lebanese or have any info?

Last time I talked with Sky, we were likeminded that İzmir-Lebanese could be a Sarıbağlar variety. I couldn't examine it well last year but I hope I'll this year.

I'll get you some good photos. I made a measuring board like Bob's for leaf photos at harvest and after cure. You may find some in the mail one of these days.

Since growing mainly for seed again this year, I did fertilize. Some of the plants are traditionally spaced, some are a little further apart. We had a very wet June. Aside from that, I can only blame my superior growing skills. ROFL
How are you? I haven't seen you here in a while. Are you growing any this year?

I grow only 5 varieties (30 plants) this year, just for experiment. That's the reason that didn't make a grow-blog this year.
I made some small changes and hope to produce burning leaves this year!

Knucks.... What is Izmir-Lebanese?

I got the original seed from Hakamoo in Egypt a few years back. (if you remember him) He got it from a field in Lebanon and had grown some fantastic looking plants on his balcony in buckets. It's growth habit, size and production is about the same as Izmir Ozbas but it grows faster and matures much earlier. The leaves are a light green and it has a nearly white flower with a tinge of pink as opposed to Ozbas's deep pink flower. They seemed to smoke about the same to me, but I never did a real side by side comparison to see if there was any real difference.

OK, same stuff I got from Hakamoo (sic). I always just call it something like the Egyptian Lebanese Turkish type tobacco but I think Izmir-Lebanese sounds better.

I bought a lot of goat manure and soil for gardens, put about 30 lit of the mixture in every plant's pit, put some extra fertilizer of potassium and water them only with rainwater.
It looked like the perfect place for a plant...plus a lot of sun. But unfortunatelly the plants have smaller growth than last year's plants.
But the good news are that already smoked 2 cigars made of mud-lugs. Hope that the rest of the leaves, after curing, will be also smokable!

Just amazing. Coroja PI 405643 looks like very tasty. Hardly waiting on time, when all this tobacco will be properly aged.
I just come back from Spain and find my tobacco improved. Many interesting things happened during this season good and bad.

My trip was nice but hard. Lots of rain in Baskia and low temperatures for this time of the year. I drunk a lot of beer and eat lots of pintxos.

Actually, I am having a fairly normal grow this year. No early budding, the plants are normal size, no hail or excessive wind. I'm in the Mid Atlantic area, I wonder what others nearby are experiencing such as DeluxeStogie and BT?
