It does look like that "weather fleck".

I did spray a few of them with dish soap, though my spray was focused on the terminal bud area, and the flecking is on lower leaves, including some I did not spray. About 3/5 of the 25 Yellow Orinoko show some spotting. I had some aphids on a couple of them. I saw some Aphids on a single Madole, so I sprayed it today. If it gets the same flecks, then I guess that answers my question. The Yellow Orinoko is the only "Virginia" type I have out there, though right next to it is a row of Shirey, listed as a "Dark Virginia".

Make sure you do not spray the soap solution in full sun. It can cause sun scald and those weather fleck looking spots. Also, you must spray the aphids, not just the leaf. It only works by contact with the aphid. Aphids usually hide on the underside of the upper leaves and on the suckers if you have not pulled them yet. They like new tender leaf found mostly at the top. I do all my spraying in the evening right before dark while the patch is in full shade. This goes for spraying BT or Spinosad also.
