Johnlee the Stolak 17 and African Red should get big. My Red showed a steady growth while the Stolak 17 hung behind a bit. At the area of of 5 weeks the Stolak 17 picked it up. Both are now 5 to 6 feet and just starting to show bud on a few.

My Stolaks are ~3"tall and the AfRed is a bit behind. No sign of buds yet and all look healthy. Thanks again. I believe I will color cure and kiln them to see if I like the variety.

I just talked with my commercial friend and got a surprise. He primes about three leaves/stalk/prime and gets five or six primes/stalk (15 to 18 leaves/stalk). WOW, who knew? He says stalk position isn't important to his buyer as everything is graded before purchase.

I haven't the volume or inclination to go that far so I think I'll prime four leaves each time and see how it works out.

Hard to believe it's only 9 days later. Everything goes well but I still hold my breath every time a T-storm goes by. Ah Well, no hail yet! The biggest CT shade leaf is 19" X 13". There are anywhere from 14 to 22 leaves/plant and no blossom buds yet. FYI the low support bars are 6' up and the high are at 7'. My expected crop this year will be larger than last by a little and I will need a more efficient hanging method. Since I will be mostly priming I am going to try tying to sticks. I have watched that old gal tying so much it's a wonder she ain't tired. I think I've got the hang of it. I've hacked together a stick holder. This year a young fella who helps out around here now and again will give me a hand. The sun porch will still be my curing area. I can control air flow and humidity quite well there and so far color curing there has been successful. The pics aren't spectacular but I believe you can see changes in 9 days.

That is looking good Johnlee they are growing aren't they. A smaller patch is less work all around no need to grow more than you need.
Bout that Brain Patch.... I see it like a coffee cup just can't seem to remember where it was last planted.
