The answer is probavly no..but just curious ...

has anyone bought a fellowes or like paper shredder...microcut shredder level 5 for shredding..

pre powermatic purchase days as i researched shredders...the microcut shredders caught my eye..given they offer a cut which allegedly is the same shred as the powermatic...im probably a bit off on the shred measurement...

i think...again think the microcut shredders security level 5 or above offer a .8 mm width shred x 2mm..again these are rough round recollection measurements

i recall on some other forum postings ...folks looking to buy the microcut shredders ......

the issues for me were

size....house is already fully furnished with no internal room for another floor based device or furniture..these are floormodels...the bucket is the same size as a small trashcan.

cost..cheapest was 299...so the cost was in the same range as the powermatic

the upside was the shred volume...it was rated as a 8-12 sheet feed mouth....

I was off the 460ms is 5/64 x 5/16 which is 1.98 mm x 7.98 mm shred...so not as ideal as powermatic and the 460ms costs 299-330 pending where it is sold

Some of the guys have tried paper shredders. Before the powermatic came out there were all kinds of different things being used, knives, scissors, pasta makers, paper shredders, wood jointers, etc. The Powermatic saved the day for alot of us. Look at some of the oldest posts in some shredder threads that were posted before the Powermatic came out. Pretty innovative stuff there.
