Any new invention has room for improvement.

My cutting board is neanderthal compared to it ,

I still think this has acres of room for improvement. Neanderthal's were pretty smart, they were around for a long time, voted with a weapon and didn't pay taxes.

Very nice design and shred. Are putting these into production?

Not like it is, it would need allot of changes. It has it's good points, I like the idea of renewable blades and being able to cut a blend. The skew angle on the blade slices the tobacco real nice. This is the last run for flue-curing and I'm down to stalks and a couple of seed heads in the T-Patch. I don't think I can sit still for very long, it's about even money weather the shredder or my store bought stuffer gets on my nerves first.

Oh yeah....nice build. I think the spring action to keep the 'cigar' up tight to the blade is innovative. Not seen that in the other shredders around. I'm sure there are some improvements and changes to be made but that one looks very solid. For a home grower or just buyers of whole leaf it looks great and with no motor to run the cost way up I would buy that one.

Thank you! You'd hate me real soon if you bought that one! My buddy came up with the best idea for power, to leave a "port" for an electric drill. It's not really new, but I didn't think of it.

Hate you? No way. OK, keep refining and see what happens. You are on the right track with the optional feature of power supplied by a drill or whatever. I saw a couple of pics of one that had 3 utility blades fastened onto a disk, aluminum (I think). Anyway, a rotary setup that a drill where the right bit in a drill could power the cutting. Keep it affordable and easy to operate and you are gonna have people wanting to buy one.

Tom, give him an inch and a little time on his hands and he'll do it. I met Steve, he's dedicated to what he puts his mind to. I haven't seen the video due to computer issues but I've seen the workmanship on the shredder. He was wanting to improve on the travel of bringing it back and forth.

Tim, I think you are right, he has the skills to do it. Sorry to hear you are unable to view the video. I had some issues with getting Flash to work properly too. Got that resolved and life is better now.

I thought his spring loaded 'cigar' was a good idea. It keeps pressure on it and pushes it forward.

With regard to improving the travel, I suspect he will find a way to smooth it out and maybe even making it spring-loaded to help with the return travel.

Odds are I'll try to get him to sell me the final version, with his signature stenciled in somewhere, like on the face plate. Whoo-Hoo!!!

Thank's guys! Time is in short supply right now. When winter gets here, if it falls on a weekend, I'll work on it. I've got some drawings done for a new feed, that's the part I dislike the most. The straight line motion of the cutter is going to be a pivot. The shred it makes is nice though, it works easy in a stuffer and it hand rolls easy. It's hard to knock off the cherry when it's lit, almost too hard, it's a PIA to put out a half burned cigarette. I had to make it before I could take working with whole leaf seriously. As much as I dislike some features, I don't know what I would do without it.

Hell, I'll engrave it! S/N 00000000001

LOL, the original design for cutting is solid.

I'm my own worst critic on such things .

I believe Leverhead is also. He alluded to improvements he would like to make.

Thats what I base my opinion.
