Was just wondering what would the master rollers at the big cigar factories say if they saw our efforts. Bet you they piss themselves laughing. But I suppose they all started off like this. Well I must say I enjoy my scew cigars, don't give a damn what they look like.

I would guess that a master roller would simply frown, and shake his/her head. But their goal is a standardized, limited variety of factory output for unimaginative consumers. By contrast, we get to alter the color, blend, size, shape and strength at will.

In many cigar factories, the newbies start off by rolling 100 or more cigars a day, and work their way up to 300+ per day. So a newbie roller has nearly 1000 cigars of experience after the first week. After rolling many cigars a day for the past few years, I'm up to about 2 months of experience. And I didn't even get minimum wage.

Hello webmost.
Thank you for the tip!

I know the roles of veins and the right-left rolling.
Sometimes i miss it, i should pay more attention probebly.. im a newbe.

i didnt try the perfecto yet, i hope to try soon. i saw a few pages back a nice perfecto, is it yours?
Is there any special thing about smoking perfecto shape?

If it was a nice perfecto you refer to, then, nah, not mine. Mine was a knobbly cheroot. If it was a knobbly cheroot on a beautiful humidor lid with inset tobacco leaf marquetry, then, yeah, that was mine; and I guess the shiny lid it lay on must have created an optical illusion. Someday. Some day. That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

Only thing special about smoking the perfecto shape is that the tapered foot lights real super easily, while the tapered head makes a concentrated stream of smoke wherever you point it in your mouth. meanwhile, the flavor sort of blossoms up to where you have the fat part burning, then carries along. Try one, and see what I mean.

I bet they wouldn't laugh too long, after they had sampled some of our blends!
I know personally, I have smoked "big name" brand sticks and mine taste just as good. I have co-workers that smoke my sticks and they give high compliments and always ask for more. Of coarse being free maybe be an influencing factor!! I know we're talking about appearence here, but looks are not everything.

I would like to think that the master rollers would be thoughtful, courteous and probably even offer some tips on rolling.

Any master rollers out there agree???

Finally got my mold from the u.s today. ...much thanks to knucks for helping me out by packing and posting it to me..making this possible..without his help I don't think I would have ever got one..so much appreciation Wal.."you da man"
..its a no.8 durex perfecto..
It has half of one of the channels missing..but it's not a big issue. .I still have 19 More which are fine. .I'm looking forward to rolling some nice uniform shaped sticks. .not that cosmetics concern me usually. .but they look much better when you give them away when they all bunched up looking the same. I'll post some pictures once I get things sorted...it had a piece coming loose at one end..so I'm just glueing that back on first.

It's one heck of a nice mold. I loved the size of the cigars it makes. It almost got "lost in the mail" in my basement. lol It never occurred to me take it out for a test drive, I'm still kicking myself for that oversight.

Hahaaa. I'm so glad it didn't get "lost in the mail"..you should have rolled a bunch..then could have let me know how they were..it was a pretty good buy..and cause I got it so cheap it didn't make it so bad paying for the shipping all the way down here...

Thank you, Filler is a mix of burly, havana and maryland... I like em mellow. Wrap and bind are also burly all from my 2012 crop.

I have no experience with those tobaccos but from what I hear, they are milder than most cigar leaf. I hope to experience some of my own tobaccos one day. Congrats on being able to roll and smoke your own.

Inianamac, tryed the blend it is very nice, loved it will eventually get some Brazilian leaf and try that out, I really like Dominican and Nicaraguan leaf, the P.A. Binder I use is pretty good. Still blending like a mad scientist to find just the right smoke. My favorite store bought cigar is a Tatuaje brand "cojonuo" 2003 pretty powerful, the wife won't mess with this one, but I prefer I lighter smoke for day to day stogie. Ok I'm rambling thanks again, talk to you soon.
