Squatter cabin? Hell yeah a Port-A-Potty doesn't take up much room. Good idea. Never heard it called that before, though. LOLI already have first dibs!
It does look good! Your going to have your hands full in about 2-1/2 months, there wont be any time for posting. My son looked at the patch and said daddy are we gonna half to tie all that tobacco again? I said No we have four more varieties this year so there will be even more, he just sank in his chair.
Yep! LOL.I have no idea yet what I'm setting myself up for.
LOL
Whew! I'm well under the 800 plant mark, so I'm in better shape than I thought. But poor old leverhead. He's too old for that kind of work. However, with that poor soil of his, it may work out about the same in the end.Yep! LOL.
During colonial times in Virginia, when the founding drug lords were worried about the reputation of Virginia tobacco, they concluded that a single man could handle 1 acre (then, about 800-1200 plants) of tobacco, if he worked it full-time. If he also had a family to assist with the work, then 2 acres could be managed.
Of course, way back then, they didn't have tillers, Crock Pots and canned beer.

I may also figure out that Don sells some pretty damn good tobacco at a reasonable price. lolNo you wont! You'll be like the rest of us and you'll figure out that if you tighten it up you can fit a few more plants in.
They did have plenty of wagons to fall off of though. I went on the wagon one time, but it turned out to be pulled by Clydesdales. No canned beer. The barbarans.

It's head to head! Knucklehead vs. leverhead. But which of them is actually the Southern Beauty?
Bob
Dang I'm slow!
I totally agree and he sure has the best. I'm still hooked on seeing them germinate. I think next year will be a lot different for us with the varieties that will be available to us it'll be like no year before! FM will be needing a lot of grow-out's and I think the warehouse will need an extension just to hold the seed!. Next year, I'm taking a page out of Stogie's grow blog and getting all my personal plants from Larry and just starting a few test and sample varieties in the house. I hate indoor farming. lol.
