BT, What did he use to cut that metal a bandsaw? Looks good. I have the parts for a forge (2 inch pipe, big brake drum etc) but haven't had time to build it let alone use it.

Jacob used a jigsaw. Then cleaned them up on a belt sander and a spindle sander.

BTW... could the fungi perfecti be from the soil you are using?
I don't think so.
I was doing a little experment and left half the trays uncovered.
The trays that have the clear lids on them don't have any fungi growing.
I will hit it with a peroxide solution.
I should have changed my air purifier filters down there.

That's surprising. I would have guessed the lids and moisture were the problem. Your results indicate an air borne contamination. That was a good experiment.
Best of luck with your season.

I can't find my notes. Best I remember, 1/4 oz per 4 gallons last year, just the last 2 waterings before planting.

Which sprouted first, covered or uncovered?
Gmac
Its hard to say, but the covered ones are longer and leggy.
The uncovered ones are short and Stout.
I should have got some lights on them faster.
I would think the covered ones hatched first and were looking for light.
I got the light on the uncovered ones just in time.
The first pic.

My remedy for "leggy" in the early stages......a ball point pen. When they are thinned to one per cell, I use the ink stick (tube) of a pen. Push it into the soil nearly touching the seedling, it grabs the roots. Push down until it pulls the bottom leggy leaves flush or slightly below the surface of the soil. Basically bury the root ball.

I suggest the pen tube instead of other poking devices not because it is better, but because the soil does not stick to it.

You did drop a lot of seeds per hole.

This year I tried to be very careful on how many I put in each hole..but I still got too many in some holes..but not too bad..
I'm in the process now of thinning them out..( among all my other projects )
