I’m beginning to think this krumovgrad 68 variety is photoperiod sensitive. Most of my plants are beginning to or already showing buds and one of them has a fully opened flower already! I topped the plant that went to seed first and plan on letting a sucker grow out. How I will handle the rest is yet to be decided. Currently not having this issue with my prilep which makes me think my use of 24 hour a day artificial light early in their growth cycle is what is to blame for this! This is strange to me. I have never grown any kind of oriental so my first season with them is definitely a learning experience!View attachment 42197
I’m just trying to pinpoint exactly WHAT I am learning…haha!
I was leaning toward wind damage myself but not quite sure…All your black-edged leaf appears to be tattered. I'm unclear as to whether it was injured then turned black, or turned black then became tattered. My initial impression is that it represents some kind of environmental damage.

No flooding. I’m unclear if they are not getting the nutrients they need but I have given them some miracle grow. I will need to water a little in the coming week or so…maybe water more than I think…I guess we will see. I prepared the plots this season with quail, chicken and rabbit manure.I don't know about the blackening of the edges, but the chlorosis in photo #161 and #142, plus the yellowing would suggest nutrient deficiency, pH imbalance, or even poor drainage (Did you have flooding?) The leaf blackening may be another symptom of one or more of the above. Can you get a soil test? How's the weather and drainage?

Here are two pics to better illustrate my above question (hopefully).

Stahls farm market. I was at the ravenna location (they have 2). They may be sold out by now. They told me most of their sales are to people who just grow them for the flowers because they attract hummingbirds. Whatever floats your boat I guess…Out of curiosity, which local farm store around here sells tobacco transplants?
