Did you remove the central vein, prior to shredding?

Bob

first experience done,
Shredder fix (old chain of a chainsaw and bearing fix on the handle and a electric furnaise electric motor blower, and the boat replace)
I have now a receipe that is not so bad
Mixing is a bit more diffcult then I though at first, questionning !
Shredded tobacco could be a bit better, my powermatic 3+ have a bit of problem with it.
maybe another shredder, i did look at mach 1 tobbaco leaf shredder (coarse cut)
the deluxe shredder look likes it will do about the same thing, the one suggested by Bob
anyone knows ?
or any experience with those ?

Is the leaf turning to dust as you shred it?

If the leaf is too dry it will turn to powder when you shred. If it is too moist it will gum up the blades on the cutters and is hard to clean out and can jam the machine and the handle won't turn.

You can mist the leaf with a spray bottle of water a little bit and seal it in the bag until it become a little more moist. Sometimes it can get too moist and you have to air it out until it feels right.

An alternative to a shredder is a flake maker. The tobacco needs to be dry. I used to have trouble maintaining proper moisture for shredding, always too wet or too dry. I'm too impatient. Now I keep it dry and make flakes.
tks alot, humidifying is doing good
leaf are perfect now
tks
