I told you it was gonna suck the humidity out. Fire in the room always does. I wonder if this years tobacco will be sweeter than last years? How much faster does it cure now with the hotbox, versus last year without an artificial heat source?

It works very well for lowerin RH when it rains for a few days That was what I put it in thar for. I also think it speeds up midrib dryin.

The last 2 weeks weve had low RH and leaf has cured like crazy. I have not got to use the heater long term. I think I used it a couple weeks when I got it. It keeps out the mold and milldew when its damp outside so when it drys out my leaf is ready to cure. Long term curein with the heater is yet to be seen but it looks a lot better

I boxed up a lot of leaf yesterday but still got a lot to go. It staeted to get to dry.

Boboro, how are you getting your stems to dry? Down here in southwest Mississippi the RH has been so high I can get the leaf to yellow and turn brown but I can not get the stem to dry. I am air drying in my garage.

Our RH has been low for a few weeks and they have been dryin good. When RH is high a fan and artificial heat Helps some. If you have the time justgo on an remove the mid rib now. Be sure to finish dryin the leaf.

Thanks, I thought about doing that. I don't want them to mold on me. My plants are about 5 and 6 foot tall now and still no blooms. I hope to keep one if they will ever put out flowers. I need to build some kind of chamber this winter for next year as I will plant bright leaf and will need to flu cure, I only have burly now. I would also like to klin my burly so I can see if it is a good smoke to blind with BB's bright leaf.

Im gonna wait a couple years on the flue chamber. Let the science get all worked out. It does let you cure very fast, but I ant crazy about flue cure tobacco. But you do need a kiln to speed up agin, also to help dry leaf for storeage and to bring stored leaf into case.

Do you air dry your bright leaf and then kiln? How long do you have to age bright leaf to smoke?

I rarey age in my kiln unless I just have somethin I just have to try. I try to store leaf a year before I smoke it.

Rickey, I was having the same problem. I'm putting my leaf in bud bags and carrying them in the house for finish / stem drying. Had I not done so I would have had mold. They just would not dry in the shop. I had a few go straight to rot before I started doing this. Label the bud bags. I put them in a room with a ceiling fan running 24/7. The bud bags allow air circulation. I will occasionally take them out, mix them around and put them back. Zero problems since. They are yellowing/browning just great in the shop, but not drying at all. After drying, I put them in Don's vapor proof bags for storage.

Dont give up. It can be stacked anywhere. just put a dust cover.
