Just curious but were you thinking Maduro wrapper when you ordered the Madole Dark?
Had me thinking for a minute... Nope, I ordered it for wrappers and pipe tobacco. About a month ago I smoked one with a Madole wrapper.

They look great Dean...and that's a nice mould for the price you paid..especially how little you can find them down our way..its a good score. .looks like a European one..Netherlands.. Germany or something
.alot of the german/dutch ones I've seen are in good condition like that made with the same light colour wood..same sort of design. .like D.G.B said..with a good tight high case wrap they maybe fine and firm up . .
I wouldn't rip them up..they are fine.....do you think they would be 55 gauge?
I can tast that one from here! Very nice job! This is an example of my Vuelta Abajo ligero used for an oscuro wrapper.

Filler is 1/3 Nicaraguan Habano viso (from wholeleaftobacco.com) and 2/3 PA Red. Although the Vuelta Abajo ligero is thick, it doesn't have much shear strength, so I used a sturdy FL Sumatra binder. No glue here. The head was twisted snugly, then clamped with a clothespin while the wrapper dried.
This is hand rolled (no mold), and shows a bit of bumpiness. All of my cigars tend to be slightly tapered at the foot, and tapered to about 45-48 ring at the head. (Excuse the gloves. I couldn't pass them up at Kroger--on sale for $0.69.)
The thick, oscuro wrapper required misting, then resting in a plastic bag overnight in order to fully loosen up (compared to 1 minute for the FL Sumatra). Likewise, the finished cigar had to rest in the humidor for several days for the wrapper to fully dry. The filler started out in low case.
The cigar is a slow, steady burner, and burns fairly evenly--unusual for a very thick wrapper. Overall, the cigar is richly full-flavored and medium-to-full in strength. The oscuro wrapper imparts a slight sweetness on the tongue.
