Your plants are looking really good. You'll be rolling and smoking before you know it. How's your curing weather?

Better than last year. .as I was saying we've had a lot more rain lately than typically ...around 50-60% RH...its better for curing but not for the quality of my leaf..nicotine levels. Etc.leaf comes out crap and too thin when its too wet..as you'd know. .sounds like a few of the other guys have had similar issues this grow season (2013).
I also had alot in 2012 come out without the leathery texture and real thin from too much water..I just hope its dryer from now on.

Im suprised how good some of my binder leaves have come out though. .for how close they were planted...they still are growing big despite the restrictions...just takes a bit of careful maneuvering to pick and get through without damaging leaf to come..managed to get through better than I expected. .

Can anyone fill me in on what p.a broadleaf is traditionally used for? ?Ive heard filler but also wrapper/binder??

GRIN classes PA Broadleaf as a filler, but all your cigar leaf can be used for filler, binder or wrapper. Let the grade of the leaf determine it's use. If you have a perfect leaf of pretty much any of your cigar varieties that will make a good wrapper, it's a wrapper. Bob has posted that when he gets in filler leaf from Don, he goes through the pile and pulls out leaf that will make good wrapper.

There can be a $10-15 per pound difference between filler grade and wrapper grade.

Thanks knucks....I did first think I remembered it being a filler..but when I seen the size quality and look of some of my p.a..it got me thinking maybe it was a bind/wrap..they remind me of ct broad and shade...they are curing to a nice light colour.and look as if they will be quite mild .so im Looking forward to seeing how they go as a wrap/binder..and will soon find out..

If you look at the FX Smith's Cigars website that webmost posted, you'll see different cigars with PA Broadleaf used as filler, binder or wrapper depending on the cigar.

They look pretty good for the price. .have you smoked many before knuckles?
Great job Todd, those are some nice plants. Are you going to let them flower or top them?
Rick
Im looking to do abit of both. .I spent most of today hot gluing bud bags for all the up coming flower heads..so im wanting to get a good amount of seed back to carry on. .help others out..or seed bank if needed. .maybe a couple of each variety. It looks like it'll be a fair amount of leaf still to harvest. .im just watching so I dont leave the wrapper binder types too long that the leaf alligators and goes over ripe..it would be a waste.

No, I haven't tried any of them yet, but I keep going back to the website and looking at them, so who knows...

We need another "get together" WM sent me a few, and a cigar is almost always more enjoyable in good company than by ones self.

I'm ready. I finally got over the flu and the lingering bronchitis. Hopefully it will warm up enough to smoke outside. There are still three weeks of deer season left if you want to come over and climb a tree. You'll appreciate a nice warm fire when you come back down. lol

Looking like your growing some biggers there. The leaf sort of reminds me of del gold. Your having all the fun now and seeing these pics just makes me want to start my grow now, but, I must wait. Can't wait to see the finished leaf.

The leaves are huge. I'm jealous of how bug free they look. No holes. You'll get a lot more wrapper grade leaf than we do.
